The Jackie Strong memorial t-shirts garnered significant attention on August 28, 2026, after Friends of Big Bear Valley released charity fundraising apparel featuring three images of Jackie and the message “Dedicated to the organizations involved in rescue and care of Jackie.” Demand was immediately high, and the first online release sold out quickly.

This project follows the passing of Jackie, the renowned bald eagle of Big Bear Valley, who died overnight on August 9th-10th after more than three weeks of intensive medical treatment. Jackie was found stranded in July and taken to the Ojai Center for Birds of Prey in a state of severe anemia, dehydration, low blood protein levels, and other health complications. Her treatment included oxygen support, nutritional care, intensive testing, and blood transfusions.

The Friends of Big Bear Valley organization stated that proceeds from the sale of the fundraising t-shirt will go to the San Bernardino County Fire Department, the San Dimas Birds of Prey Rescue Organization, and the California Living Museum Zoo, in recognition of the groups involved in Jackie’s rescue and treatment. The Ojai Center for Birds of Prey respectfully requests that no donations be accepted from this campaign.
