She spent approximately three weeks in intensive care after being found stranded near Big Bear Lake. Despite treatment with oxygen therapy, blood transfusions, and continuous veterinary support, severe anemia and an unspecified illness worsened her condition.

Born in Big Bear Valley in 2012, Jackie later shared her nest with Shadow and was known for her resilience, devoted nesting behavior, and ability to withstand harsh mountain weather. Her life has inspired millions of viewers and helped build greater support for wildlife education and habitat conservation.
